On our recent journey in finding a church home, I have found that there are 8 churches in the area that are baptist and at least somewhat of what I know. The other 3 churches that they have 2 are ABC and 1 is an Association of Reformed Baptist Churches (whatever that means lol).
Today we tried Church number 1. I had looked on their website last night and they had two services they had mentioned, Sunday: 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Which told me it was small, but it is still a baptist church to try out. Well, we get there today and those of you from Georgetown/Stamping Ground, the outside almost looks like Old Cedar. I thought at first I was in a twilight zone. But when you walked into the door (those of you who know Fairmont Baptist in Ohio), the inside almost looked like Fairmont. Very weird :)
The pastor introduced himself to us and talked to Jamie for a little bit. I did not know he was the pastor, because he did not say, "I am pastor so-and-so". A young lady who is around our age, came over and introduced herself to us. She had two small kids with her. Jamie said I had made her day by being another young mom in the church. Which I do feel bad for her because it is tough being the only young family in the church.
Well, the pastor goes up to the pulpit and leads the singing. Well the songs that he had picked out, I guess he decided were not fast enough for him, because he rushes through every song he sings. I leaned over and asked Jamie where the fire was, because how fast they were singing the songs. One song in particular, they were singing it so fast they almost sounded like they were speaking in tongues lol
I think Jamie and I figured the pastor probably was preaching for about a hour. Church started at 10:30 and we did not get out until about noon. The church was ok, but we both got into the truck and were like "Ummm, no"
So, 1 church definitely down and about 7 more to go. So on to the next church :-)

One of the hardest things about moving to a new place is finding a new church. We are non-denominational so it took us a few months to find one we really liked. I grew up Baptist though. I wish you luck in your search!
